Introducing Sekou Diarrassouba, a powerful and experienced forward whose journey from the Bronx to Europe and back reflects his relentless passion and drive for the game. With a natural eye for goal and an incredible story of resilience, Sekou brings leadership, international experience, and serious attacking firepower to Whitestone FC.
Sekou began playing soccer at the age of seven, starting as a center back before making a game-changing switch to forward in his sophomore year of high school. That year, he netted nine goals and led his team to the semi-finals. By senior year, he shattered records, scoring 27 goals and guiding his squad to their first division championship in four years.
He made history again by becoming the first in his high school to play college soccer, beginning at Notre Dame College of Ohio and later transferring to North Greenville University in South Carolina, where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice.
After college, Sekou returned to New York and joined Sons of Queens in the UPSL before receiving a call to play professionally in Europe. His journey overseas took him to Europa Point FC in Gibraltar and Esteponense FC in Spain’s Andalusian 5th Division, where he competed for nine months. Unfortunately, visa complications and team funding issues brought him back home.
Shortly after, Sekou trialed with Sunne IK, a Swedish fourth-division side, but suffered a torn meniscus that required surgery.
Since then, he has been training and rehabbing with full focus, determined to return stronger than ever.
Now with Whitestone FC, Sekou is ready to make an impact and help the club reach new heights. His comeback story is still being written — and the next chapter starts here.
